Summer Camp Information

Willow Grove Stables offers three types of summer camps each year:  Horsemanship, Training and Coaching. For further information than what is listed below, please feel free to contact us.
 

Horsemanship Camp

All Students will participate in a full program of riding and stable management. Regardless of what level you are at, this program will improve your riding and horsemanship skills. Stable management will have many aspects of horse care including grooming, lunging, care and fitting of tack. Mounted lessons will cover flatwork; introduction to jumping – or improving your skills for the show ring. This camp includes:

  • Six hours of instruction daily

  • Two mounted rides each day

  • Experienced and qualified coaches and instructors

  • Well-trained experienced horses

  • Alberta Equestrian Federation Rider Level 1-8 Certification available

The dates for the horsemanship camp are:

  • July 25 - 29, 2011
  • August 1 - 5, 2011
  • August 8 - 12, 2011
  • August 15 - 19, 2011
  • August 22 - 26, 2011

Training Camp

Whether your goals are competitive, achieving your rider level certificates, preparing for your coaching levels or recreational riders with specific training needs, the camp will provide a unique, intensive and fun way to meet your goals. For the competitive rider there will be an opportunity to attend two competitions with Willow Grove coaches upon completion of this training session.

*New 2011* A limited number of riders will be accepted to the camp this year. Minimum age is 12 years with exceptions approved by Trish only.

The dates for this years training camp is:

  • August 9 - 12, 2011
  • August 12, 2011 - Rider Level Testing

Coaching Camp

The coaching camp is an intensive, fun week of coaching development covering the outcomes required by the Coaching Association of Canada and Equine Canada for certification. You will participate in observing and teaching riders of a variety of backgrounds and levels.

Some of the topics covered will be:

  • Long Term Equestrian Development

  • Lesson Planning

  • Analyzing Performance

  • Design a Sports Program

  • Provide Support To Athletes in Training

  • Sports Psychology

  • Manage Aspects of a Sports Program

  • Support the Competitive Experience

Whether you are a seasoned coach or just beginning there is something for everyone. Come and learn from some of the best coaches and experts from the industry we have in Alberta.

Required: All Coaches are required to include proof of memberships
Alberta Equestrian Federation Membership
Equine Canada Membership: Silver for Instructor of Beginners, Gold for Coach Level 1&2
Signed Mentor form or letter from your mentor
